Witnessing my body bring forth life in my home, completely uninhibited, was the closest I think I’ll ever come to knowing Divinity. It is definitely my favorite version of myself. It was like a glimpse into this power. A power both literal and symbolic, of Who We Are. Sometimes I feel so blocked from knowing who I am. Or who I was, really – my soul’s history. But when I was birthing, it was there. The sheer force of the woman. Of our collective, ancestral, divine, history. Not just on this earth, but in the time before, and in the time to come.

Whether we have been the portal for another’s body or not, our history as women is intertwined with Creators. I heard it said once, that in the scriptures, when a man communes with God, he goes up into a high place. But when a woman communes with God, God comes to her. We are divine. Our history is divine. Our roles are divine. In loss, heartbreak, joy, separation, waiting, fulfillment, love and transcendence, I am grateful to be a small part of our collective story. Happy Mother’s Day to women everywhere. 💛
